A question that isn't here, a bug, or a dilemma that seems wrong to you: write to contact@basculeapp.com. For a dilemma, include its title and date.

The game

When do new dilemmas arrive?

Every day at midnight Paris time (Central European Time). The three dilemmas are the same for everyone, in the app and on the website.

Can I change my vote?

No. One vote per dilemma, and it's final, like a real choice. That's also what keeps the percentages honest.

How are the percentages calculated?

They add up every vote received for that dilemma, from the app and the website, in English and in French. They move with every new vote. They reflect Bascule players, not a representative population.

What does “Waiting for the world” mean?

Your phone had no network when you voted. The vote is kept on the device and sent as soon as the connection is back; the result then appears.

How does the streak work?

It counts the days in a row on which you voted at least once in the app. Miss a day and it starts again from zero. Votes cast on the website don't count towards the streak, which lives on your phone.

What is the moral compass for?

It shows tendencies based on your moral and life votes: consequences or principles, individual or collective, risk or caution. An axis becomes readable after five votes that concern it. It is not a personality test. It is calculated on your phone and never sent. The free version shows the first axis, Bascule+ all three with the last 30 days of history.

Bonuses and Bascule+

A bonus dilemma won't unlock

A bonus only unlocks if the video is watched to the end. If it doesn't load, the bonus stays locked: try again a little later with a good connection. You get three bonuses a day, reset at midnight Paris time.

I can't find Bascule+

Open Bascule+ or the app's Settings and tap “Restore purchases”. Use the same Apple Account you bought it with. If someone in your Family Sharing group bought it, it's available to you too.

How do I get a refund?

Purchases go through Apple, which handles refunds at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Reminder, widget, suggestions

The daily reminder doesn't arrive

Check that it's turned on in the app's Settings and that Bascule notifications are allowed in the iPhone's Settings › Notifications. If you don't open Bascule for seven days, reminders stop on their own; they start again the next time you open it.

How do I add the widget?

Touch and hold the Home Screen, tap Edit then Add Widget, and search for Bascule. The widget shows today's moral dilemma and whether you voted.

How do I suggest a dilemma?

In the app, from the result screen or Settings, tap “Suggest a dilemma”. Up to 600 characters, three suggestions a day. A person reads them all; ideas that are kept are rewritten and published without a name.

Your data

How do I erase my data?

In the app: Settings › Reset local data erases your votes, streak and bonus history on the device. Deleting the app also erases the anonymous ID. On the website: clear the site's data in your browser settings. Details are on the Privacy page.

Why does the app ask for my consent about ads?

The free version is paid for by ads. You are asked before any personalised ad is shown, and you can change your choice in the app's Settings. If you decline, ads still appear but aren't personalised. Bascule+ removes them all.
